Beginning August 2009, Harvey High School students were required to adhere to an adapted version of the "Academic Dress" model in place at the Elementary Schools and at Heritage Middle School.

 

Initially, the decision to expand the dress code to the High School was based on survey data from parents in grades K-8 which showed overwhelming support to extend the Academic Dress model to the High School. High School parents and students were surveyed to gather information and opinions about changes to the dress code. Utilizing data received from these meetings and surveys, and continuing discussions with class leaders and staff members at the High School, an adapted version of the dress code was created and then revised in 2011.

Recognizing that many High School students purchase their own clothes, the objective was to provide some additional options for high school students while preserving the intent of the Academic Dress model as it was introduced.
